Iworo Kingdom in Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) witnessed an unprecedented influx of residents and visitors on Friday, 2 January 2026, as the town hosted the 19th edition of the annual Iworo Mega Carnival, recording one of its largest turnouts since inception.

The cultural and entertainment carnival, widely regarded as a platform for youth empowerment and community bonding, was described by participants as historic, colourful and peaceful. The event also marked a milestone with the attendance of the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, making him the first sitting council chairman to grace the carnival since it began.

The Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Sesi #Whingan, commended the organisers for sustaining the festival over the years, particularly amid prevailing economic and security challenges. He praised the massive turnout and orderly conduct of the event, pledging support towards the development of a permanent stage to further empower local talents.

In his remarks, Hon. #Kumayon described the carnival as one of the most impressive community festivals he had witnessed in recent times, applauding the youths and organisers for their discipline and commitment. He assured residents of his administration’s willingness to continue collaborating with the people of Iworo to support future editions.

The #Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, HRM Oba Oladele #Kosoko , emphasised that peace remains the foundation of unity, culture and development in the community. He described the Iworo Mega Carnival as a unique platform where people gather freely without fear or intimidation, urging residents to protect the harmony the town is known for.

The Onigbanko of Igbanko also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere and impressive turnout, describing the carnival as a symbol of unity and communal progress, while offering prayers for even bigger and more impactful editions in the years ahead.

Speaking on behalf of the royal family, the Aremo of Iworo Kingdom, Prince Olu Kosoko, highlighted the resilience and potential of Iworo youths, describing them as custodians of the community’s cultural heritage. He, however, cautioned against social vices, urging young people to remain disciplined, responsible and positively engaged.

The President of Iworo Youth Entertainment, Barr. Olabode, disclosed that the event marked the 19th edition of the carnival. He described the attendance of the #Olorunda LCDA chairman as historic and encouraging, noting that it set a new record since the festival began.


The carnival featured electrifying musical performances, cultural displays, talent hunt competitions and other side attractions, providing a vibrant platform for young talents to showcase their skills.

Barr. Olabode appealed to political office holders and other stakeholders to support the carnival through infrastructure and logistics, stressing that such support would reduce costs and ensure the sustainability of the festival.

As the celebrations drew to a close, many residents described the 19th Iworo Mega Carnival as not only a cultural success but also a powerful symbol of peace, unity and communal pride in #Iworo Kingdom.
