The Governing Board of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) has elected new Principal Officers to oversee the affairs of the College for the 2026–2027 tenure, further reinforcing the institution’s strategic and academic presence along the #Lagos–BadagryExpressway.

The elections were conducted at the College’s 137th statutory meeting, held on Friday, December 5, 2025, with the newly elected officers assuming office from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.

The NPMCN is headquartered at Km 26, Lagos–Badagry Expressway, Ijanikin, Lagos, a location that continues to position Badagry as a key hub for postgraduate medical education, research, and national professional development.

Newly Elected Principal Officers

Professor Anthony Nnaemeka Ikefuna, FMCPaed – President
Professor Ikefuna, who previously served as Vice-President of the College, brings extensive leadership experience into his new role. He has played a central role in strengthening the Faculty of Paediatrics and advancing postgraduate medical training standards within the College. His election as President reflects continuity in governance and a deep institutional commitment to academic excellence from the College’s Ijanikin base.

Professor Innocent Chiedu Ikem, FMCOrtho – Vice-President
Professor Ikem is a former Treasurer of the College, where he was responsible for financial oversight and accountability. His academic contributions within the Faculty of Orthopaedics, particularly in curriculum development and postgraduate training, have been widely acknowledged. As Vice-President, he is expected to support strategic planning and institutional growth from the College’s Badagry corridor headquarters.

Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim, FMCPsych – Treasurer
Dr. Ibrahim previously served as Chairman of the Faculty of Psychiatry, providing leadership in faculty administration and postgraduate examinations. His election as Treasurer places him at the centre of the College’s financial and administrative management during the new tenure.
