The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, fMHR, has extended a New Year message of hope, unity, and renewed commitment to development to residents of Badagry as the local government steps into 2026.
In his address to Badagrians, the Chairman described the people as the “heart and soul” of the community and expressed gratitude for their resilience through past challenges and collective achievements. He noted that the shared spirit of unity and perseverance has continued to define Badagry’s identity and progress.
Looking ahead, Hon. #Hunpe assured residents that the local government’s development agenda would intensify in the new year, emphasising that the journey toward a #GreaterBadagryRising would not slow down. According to him, 2026 will be marked by deliberate efforts to strengthen foundations across critical sectors that directly affect the lives of residents.
The Chairman highlighted infrastructure development as a key priority, stressing the importance of projects that improve connectivity and enhance daily living across communities. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, with continued investment in building and equipping schools to prepare children for a brighter and more competitive future.
Healthcare delivery was also identified as a major focus for the year. Hon. Hunpe stated that hospitals and health facilities would continue to receive attention to ensure quality care for all residents without discrimination. In addition, empowerment programmes aimed at individuals, families, and communities would be sustained and expanded to create real and accessible economic opportunities.
Beyond physical development, the Chairman underscored the importance of Badagry’s rich culture, history, and natural attractions. He noted that deliberate efforts would be made to promote these assets, positioning Badagry as a tourism hub and a source of pride not only for residents but for Lagos State as a whole.
Calling for collective responsibility, Hon. Hunpe reminded Badagrians that meaningful progress depends on unity and shared effort. He encouraged residents to approach the new year with courage, purpose, and determination, noting that small acts of cooperation and community spirit contribute significantly to long-term development.
He concluded by wishing residents good health, joy, and hope in the new year, expressing confidence that 2026 would be a year of progress, empowerment, and lasting legacy for Badagry.
The message was signed by Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, fMHR, Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, and released on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
