The Executive Chairman of #Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, has presented a proposed ₦9.08 billion budget for the 2026 financial year to the council’s legislative arm.
The budget, tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Development,” was laid before the 6th Legislative Council on Tuesday, with the chairman describing it as a roadmap aimed at meeting community needs and driving long-term development across the LCDA.
According to details of the proposal, ₦5.16 billion, representing 56 per cent, has been allocated to recurrent expenditure, covering personnel costs and the day-to-day running of council operations. The remaining ₦3.92 billion, or 44 per cent, is set aside for capital expenditure, focusing on infrastructure, social development programmes and community-based projects.
Mr #Kumayon said the budget was designed to strike a balance between efficient administration and tangible development outcomes, particularly in areas that directly affect residents’ quality of life.
He added that the spending plan reflects his administration’s commitment to transparent governance, fiscal responsibility and people-centred development, noting that effective implementation would depend on collaboration with the legislative council and sustained public support.
The council leadership expressed confidence that, if approved and executed as planned, the 2026 budget would deliver measurable improvements and long-term benefits for communities within Olorunda LCDA, which lies within the Badagry division of Lagos State.
