The Lagos State Government has launched an extensive cleanup operation along the #LagosBadagryExpressway , targeting accumulated waste and environmental infractions between Volks and Agric Bus Stop.
The exercise is being led by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who shared updates on the operation via social media, alongside a video showing clearance activities along the corridor.
In his post, Mr Wahab said the cleanup had moved steadily from Volks towards Agric Bus Stop as part of efforts to remove long-standing waste buildup and restore order along the busy expressway.
“The continuation of clearance of backlog along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway is ongoing,” he wrote. “The operation commenced from Volks and has now progressed to the Agric Bus Stop, as we intensify efforts to remove accumulated waste and environmental infractions along the corridor.”
Residents and motorists along the route have welcomed the development, describing it as a response to persistent concerns over illegal dumping, roadside trading, and obstructions that have contributed to traffic congestion and environmental health risks.
According to the commissioner, the exercise forms part of a broader state-wide strategy aimed at maintaining cleanliness on major highways and improving public safety.
“This exercise is part of our sustained commitment to keeping major highways clean, improving traffic flow, and safeguarding public health and the environment,” Mr Wahab said, adding that the operation would continue until the entire stretch of the expressway is covered.
The cleanup drive, tagged #CleanerLagos, comes amid increased movement and commercial activity associated with the festive season, a period often linked to higher levels of waste generation across the state.
