Badagry, Lagos State, has recorded a significant spiritual milestone following the elevation of Venerable Superior Evangelist S.A. Akputu, a prominent Christian leader in the Badagry region, to the exalted rank of Assistant Most Superior Evangelist within the Celestial Church of Christ (C.C.C) Worldwide.

The elevation and anointing were carried out by His Eminence, Reverend Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, as part of the church’s global leadership recognition. The honour reflects Evangelist Akputu’s years of service, spiritual leadership, and impact within Badagry and beyond.
Evangelist Akputu currently serves as the Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Anuoluwapo Cathedral, Badagry, one of the notable worship centres in the ancient coastal town known for its religious heritage and historical significance. He also holds the position of Grand Patron of the Badagry Region, C.C.C Worldwide, a role that has further strengthened the church’s influence across communities in Badagry.
The elevation ceremony also featured Venerable Superior Evangelist Afis Kiki, Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ National Headquarters Archdiocese, Makoko, Lagos, who was similarly elevated, underscoring the church’s ongoing leadership development at the national and international levels.
For many worshippers in Badagry, the elevation of Evangelist Akputu is seen as both a personal honour and a collective recognition of the town’s contribution to the growth of the Celestial Church of Christ in Lagos State and Nigeria at large. Members of the Anuoluwapo Cathedral and residents across Badagry have described the development as a source of pride and spiritual encouragement.
The elevation places Badagry firmly on the map within the leadership structure of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, reinforcing the town’s enduring relevance in faith, community leadership, and religious heritage
