A road traffic accident involving a commercial 18-seater passenger bus occurred on Tuesday near #LimcaBusStop along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, once again raising concerns about road safety on the busy corridor.

As of the time of reporting, details surrounding the cause of the crash and the number of casualties remained unclear.

Insights from a video on CityMood Badagry Facebook page detailed that eyewitnesses at the scene said the incident caused panic among commuters, with emergency responses focusing on assisting passengers and clearing the affected section of the road.

One Oluwatosin Bamgbose who witnessed the accident live while returning from Lagos in another vehicle, disclosed that a young boy was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention, expressing hope that the child would recover fully.

Several road users and residents attributed the recurring accidents around the Limca axis to speeding, reckless driving and poor vehicle conditions.

Damoshy Dami called for stricter enforcement of speed limits, while Oluwasheunfunmi Raphael noted that although speed regulations already exist, many drivers routinely ignore them. He cited existing limits on major Lagos routes, questioning compliance rather than policy.

Sharing a possible cause of the crash, Toheeb Adewale suggested that a tyre burst under high speed and heavy load may have caused the bus to lose control and overturn.

Supporting this view, David Taylomg argued that tyre bursts are often survivable at low speeds, adding that excessive speed likely worsened the situation in this case.

Others expressed broader concerns about driving culture on the Badagry route. Olayemi Aboderin and Akubor Moses criticised what they described as habitual overspeeding and poor driving skills among some commercial bus operators, particularly Mazda buses, which they accused of contributing significantly to accidents on the expressway.

Esther Onoriode added that passengers who caution drivers are often met with insults rather than restraint.
The Limca Bus Stop area, in particular, has drawn repeated attention. Olori Edward Amekugbe questioned why accidents appear frequent at that specific location, while Adeola Margret echoed similar worries, calling for urgent intervention.

Ayobi Dorcas described the Badagry road, especially between Mowo and the roundabout, as frightening, stressing that passengers often rely on prayers for safety.

As investigations continue, residents and commuters are renewing calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws, better monitoring of commercial drivers, and targeted safety measures around known accident-prone spots such as Limca Bus Stop, to prevent further loss of lives on the #LagosBadagryExpressway.
